The tiny South Pacific island of Vanuatu is competing with Russia and Qatar to present the 2015 world amateur boxing championships.
The International Amateur Boxing Association has confirmed that Vanuatu is one of five countries that have expressed an interest in playing host to the countries competing in the event.
Thailand and Venezuela also want to stage the tournament, according to the AIBA.
The championships will be a qualifying tournament for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. The boxers who win the titles in the ten weight categories for men will automatically qualify to compete in Rio.
The bidders will present their applications to the governing body's executive committee in July.
