Wlodarczyk's Promoter Rules Out Drozd, Flores Possible

WBC cruiserweight champion Krzysztof Wlodarczyk (49-2-1, 35 KOs) rejected an offer from Andrey Ryabinskiy’s “World of Boxing” to defend his title against red hot European champion Grigoriy Drozd (38-1, 27 KOs) due to financial reasons. This news was confirmed by Wlodarczyk’s Polish promoter Andrzej Wasilewski to Russian media agency ITAR-TASS.

“There will be no fight between Wlodarczyk and Drozd”, said Wasilewski. “We have indeed been negotiating with Team Drozd, but the financial part of the equation wasn’t lucrative enough. That was a bad offer. Now negotiations are closed for the time being. Right now we are choosing between two other opponents. There’s a chance Krzysztof will head to the States for a fight with WBC #9 BJ Flores (30-1-1, 19 KOs)”.

Wasilewski has also stated that WBC #3 rated Congolese Ilunga Makabu (17-1, 16 KOs) could be another possibility for the Polish champion’s seventh consecutive defense of the green belt.

BJ Flores has been semi retired for years and has done nothing losing to Danny Green. Drozd would be more worthy. Why we never get the see fighters fight the best matchup any more confuses me.

I'm so sick of these fighters claiming that they don't want to make a good fight happen because of money. Fight any and all comers like a true warrior and the financial rewards will come.
