Wlodarczyk: I'm Not Out To End Danny Green's Career

Krzysztof Wlodarczyk insists he's not out to end Danny Green's career when he puts his WBC cruiserweight world title on the line against the Australian on Wednesday night.

But the Pole could do much to hasten that outcome if he manages a convincing win in front of 38-year-old Green's home crowd at Perth's Challenge Stadium.

There's plenty at stake for Green, who is trying to bounce back from his last fight loss to Antonio Tarver in Sydney four months ago that took his record to 31-4.

A win and fourth world title would open up new opportunities but another defeat would not sit well.

Wlodarczyk is fighting outside of Poland for just the sixth time in his 45-2-1 career and has an advantage in reach as well as being eight years Green's junior.

But there was plenty of mutual respect at their pre-fight media conference on Monday.

"It's 12 rounds and anything can happen," Wlodarczyk said through an interpreter.

"I don't want to end anybody's career.

"I want to go in there and have a fight, and see how it goes. I wish him all the best and good health as well."

Green is grateful to get Wlodarczyk to Perth to defend his title.

"We know that Wlodarczyk is very, very confident of being victorious and we know he thinks that he's going to take me in the later rounds so he can impose his size, power and his strength, but I'm not just going to lie down," Green said.

"His fists do the talking and I am the same. But I have immense respect for the man, for his achievements and what he is inside the boxing ring.

"It's my job now to make sure he's not going to be victorious on Wednesday."
