WBO/IBO/IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko was delighted to hear the news that Manny Pacquiao's upcoming May 7 pay-per-view fight with Shane Mosley was taken away from HBO and brought to CBS/Showtime. The Klitschko have had their own problems with HBO. The network has refused to carry the majority of their fights for the last couple of years. Wladimir has not appeared on the network since December 2008 when he knocked out Hasim Rahman. Older brother Vitali Klitschko, the WBC champion, last appeared on HBO in September 2009 when he knocked out Chris Arreola.

The two brothers have been forced to bring their fights to ESPN and independent pay-per-view outlets. Wladimir and Vitali are frustrated at what they feel is "disrespect" from HBO. Wladimir and his company, K2 Promotions, would prefer to have Showtime carry their upcoming September fight with Tomasz Adamek.

"As you know, we have been fighting on ESPN, and this is a great combination that Showtime and Manny Pacquiao have. I think that it's going to give, to the boxing fans, a lot of opportunities to watch a boxing fight. We've been fighting on ESPN and not HBO and Showtime, because it has not been lucrative to do that. So, of course, that's a very, very good combination with CBS and Showtime," Klitschko said.

"In the past, as you know, HBO has sort of had a monopoly on the market of boxing. Of course, Showtime is someone that can be in competition with it, but has not really been doing that recently. So I'm very happy about this combination that Bob Arum has made and put together with CBS and Showtime. CBS is an open network. Everyone can watch it. And as I mentioned before, that would be a great, promotional platform for us. It would be a great promotional platform for us, the sport, and, for the financial side the pay per view on Showtime. That could be something that would be good for us."

"But this combination, I believe, is very good for boxing and for the pay per view. And, of course, if I could have a similar type of deal with an American broadcaster as Bob Arum does with Showtime and CBS, yes, that would be fantastic."
