Willie Nelson's surgery a success, targeting April return
By Ryan Burton
BoxingScene.com has been advised by John Loew, assistant trainer and son of head trainer Jack Loew, that super welterweight contender Willie Nelson (21-1) has been given the green light to fully participate in gym activities on Monday.
Nelson was scheduled to face Mathew Macklin in December but pulled out of the fight due to an injury to his elbow.
"Willie is doing well! He will be back full speed on Monday. He has been running and doing light shadow boxing but will be good to go on Monday," Loew told BoxingScene.com.
He is still on target to return to the ring in late March or April.

I was wondering when Nelson was going to be back in the ring again but I didn't know he needed to have surgery. Glad he'll be back soon, dude has some major power.Comment by nathan_nall on 01-01-2014
Good to hear he's recovering. Hoping he'll be able to get back out on tour. My dad is the Red Headed Stranger's biggest fan.Comment by - Ram Raid - on 01-01-2014
