Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. Returns in June, Eyes Regional Belt
By Rey Colon
Former WBO super bantamweight champion Wilfredo 'Papito' Vazquez (21-2-1, 18KOs) will be back in the month of June in a fight possibly involving a WBO regional title, according to hi promoter Felix 'Tutico' Zabala.
Vazquez returns from a twelve round split decision loss to WBO 122-pound champion Nonito Donaire, which took place on February 4th. Papito's return could possibly take place on June 16th on a card also featuring WBO Latino featherweight champion Orlando Cruz.
According Zabala, he doesn't rule out the possibility of Vazquez moving up to the featherweight division to chase a fight with WBO champion Orlando Salido - but Zabala's priority at the moment is getting Orlando Cruz the shot with Salido.
