UFC President Dana White appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to discuss next month's Showtime Pay-Per-View event, which is going to feature UFC superstar Conor McGregor stepping inside the boxing ring against former five division champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.

The PPV happens on August 26th from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Mayweather (49-0, 26 KOs), 40 years old, comes back from a two year retirement stint, having last fought in September 2015 with a twelve round decision over Andre Berto.

McGregor is a massive underdog, because of his inexperience in boxing and Mayweather's standing as one of the best defensive fighters in boxing history.

White believes McGregor's southpaw style, combined with his power, is going to make this a very dangerous fight for Mayweather.

"Listen, when you put two people [together] anywhere – here, anywhere – and they start throwing punches, anything is possible. Floyd Mayweather is going to be 41 years old this year. If there is a kink in that armor, it has been with southpaws," White told Jimmy Kimmel.

"Conor McGregor is a southpaw. He is 28 years old and he hits like a truck. He has got 12 rounds to land that punch. When he hits people, they go. And if he hits Floyd, I think he will hurt him. And when he hurts people, he puts them away."

"The thing is that throwing punches is a part of what we do in the UFC, and Conor McGregor can throw some punches. That kid hits hard. The confidence this guy has in himself is unbelievable. I haven't seen anything like this since [Muhammad] Ali."

White forgets that Mayweather has defeated several southpaws throughout his career - including Manny Pacquiao in 2015.

Mayweather has promised to first batter McGregor in the ring, and then cross over to the UFC and batter McGregor in the cage.

Both White and McGregor are confident that regardless of the outcome next month, Mayweather will never step inside the octagon. If Mayweather ever attempted to fight McGregor under UFC rules, White believes the contest would be over before it ever began.

"Three seconds," White said. "That thing would be over real quick."
