WBC, IBF and WBA Presidents To Meet in Mexico

Contrary to hasty reports, three sanctioning body presidents are going to meet from June 22-23 in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico. This congregation had been cooking for days, but with much discretion and secrecy. There is still no official press release to the boxing world.

So far, we understand that this summit will be attended by the president of the World Boxing Council (WBC), Mauricio Sulaiman, President of the World Boxing Association (WBA), Gilberto Mendoza and the IBF president Daryl Peoples. Also, the executive vice president of the WBA, Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, is reportedly going to be present.

The president of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), Francisco "Paco" Valcarcel, is not able to attend due to prior personal commitments.
There is not yet a full agenda, but this gathering, informal nature, serve as a framework to strengthen ties between the leaders of international boxing and lay the groundwork for unification of criteria in the future. In addition, the issue of recognition of the unique world champion touched.
