By Hilmar Rojas

The new project of the WBA, to support the amateur boxing in Panama as part of its KO Drugs Campaign started last Friday in the province of Colon.

With the Organization of the Amateur Provincial Boxing League of Colon, the Panamá All Brown Arena saw four amateur boxing clubs in action.

The amateur clubs participating with their best boxers were Jaime Velez, Rescate 2004, Puños de Oro and Demetrio Vasquez.

The boxers arrived early to the weigh in and were eager to fight. There were 8 fights and 2 exhibitions.

The WBA donated the trunks and shirts to the athletes. And Mr. Aurelio Fiengo, president of Colon Professional Boxing Commission gave a medal to each boxer for participating.

The winner of each fight received a Briefcase with sport implements. All boxers received a bag of food, courtesy of Antonio "Lalo" Antonio Deputy of Colón.

The WBA made a donation to each participating club of sporting equipment to facilitate the practice of boxing, gloves, punch mitts, bandages, chronometers, jumping rope, mouth guards, Headgear and genital protectors among other things which were given to each club's President.

With this activity the WBA begins its project to support provincial amateur boxing of Panama.
