Frank Warren, promoter for former British heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora (15-3, 9KOs), would love to match his boxer with David Haye (25-2, 23KOs), the former WBA champion. On Saturday night, WBC champion Vitali Klitschko won a hard-fought twelve round decision over Chisora in Munich, Germany. It was the toughest fight for Klitschko in years.
An ugly scene erupted during the post-fight press conference - when Haye and Chisora started trading words, and then started trading punches, and their entourages quickly became involved in a wild brawl. Haye's manager and trainer Adam Booth had his head busted open with a bottle.
Prior to the drama, Warren approached Bernd Boente, manager of Vitali, with a great idea.
"Bernd, how about this.....David fights Dereck and the winner gets Vitali," Warren said.
Boente replied - "that sounds like a great plan."
The post-fight brawl between Haye and Chisora captured headlines all over the world. At this very moment, while the drama is still lingering in the air, a fight between the two of them would make for a big pay-per-view sell in the UK.
