| Ward-Abraham: Third Man is Luis Pabon of Puerto Rico
|
|
Los Angeles, CA - The Semi-Final Tournament bout of the Super Six World Boxing Classic between WBA Super Middleweight Champion Andre "S.O.G." Ward and "King" Arthur Abraham is just 24 hours away and the officials have been announced. The officials for the Ward-Abraham bout will be Stanley Christodoulou of South Africa, Ingo Barrabas of Germany and James Jen-Kin of California. The event referee is Luis Pabon of Puerto Rico. "I appreciate the considerations that the California Athletic Commission, especially Chairman John Frierson and Executive Officer George Dodd, afforded us back on February 15 in allowing the promoter's of Ward and Abraham to stand behind their contractual understanding of having a non-California referee," said Dan Goossen of Goossen Tutor Promotions. "I want to make it very clear from the outset, the commission nor our company, have wavered or insisted on any other arrangement with a non-Californian referee despite the continual inaccurate claims of Wilfried Sauerland, the promoter of Abraham, to the contrary. We don't want any excuses from the Sauerland camp after Ward's performance tomorrow night!" Tickets for this May 14 action-packed, world championship boxing card are priced at $25, $50, $100 and $200 (VIP floor seats). Fans can purchase tickets now at all Ticketmaster outlets and online at www.Ticketmaster.com as well as The Home Depot Center Box Office (open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.). I'm a fan of the road warrior, the guy who will go to the devil's den, the lion's lair. A home built record is usually shaky, but in this fight, Abraham is fighting the uphill battle. Ward by decision. |
So you consider the knockdown against Paquiao in last Saturday's fight a fair call by Bayless?
Bayless is considered the best ref in the sport. But even he can make a mistake as the Pacquiao fight showed.

Pabon is a good ref, still I have serious doubts about this fight. Ward has been fighting in California the entire tournamen, headbutting all of his opponents. Also in the other article when Ward said "I think that a fight between us would be a perfect fit for a venue like this" refering to a fig... |
