Former amateur megastar and presently the WBA/IBO middleweight king Gennady Golovkin (23-0, 20 KOs) gave his version of the answer by continuing his reign of terror. Golovkin used less than three rounds to completely devastate OPBF and Japanese champion Makoto Fuchigami (19-7, 10 KOs) in a spectacular fashion.

Hernandez Decisions Cunningham in a Bruising Title Fight

Frankfurt, Germany - Cuba's Yoan Pablo Hernandez (26-1, 13 KOs) erased all doubts, taking the title as the "best active cruiserweight in the world" - with a gutsy, blood-proven and sweat-earned twelve round unanimous decision over former champion Steve "USS" Cunningham (24-4, 12 KOs). Scores were: 116-110 (by Mexico's Alejandro Lopez Cid), 116-110 (by Pasquale Procopio of Canada) and 115-111 (by Massimiliano Bianco from Italy) - in favor of the reigning IBF champion. It was a classy win in the first meaningful battle of 2012, and the best fight of the year so far.

K2 Promotions arranged another night of boxing at the Palace of Sports in Kharkov, Ukraine. In the main event of the night, WBO #6 ranked light welterweight Sergey “Professor” Fedchenko (29-1, 13 KOs) took another step towards worldwide recognition after a narrow decision over former world title challenger and amateur star Willy Blain (24-2, 4 KOs) of France over twelve tactical rounds.
