Vinny Maddalone Stops Polley in The Third Round

Queens, New York - Vinny Maddalone (36-8) scored an impressive third round knockout over the unimpressive Byron Polley (25-14-1).  Maddalone pressed the action from start to finish with Polley's only defense being holding Maddalone.  Maddalone knocked down Polley in each round until the ref waved it off after the second knockdown of the third round. The official time of stoppage was 1:11.

Juan Dominguez (12-0) was in control of the entire fight against the veteran John Alberto Molina (32-22-3) and seemed to be on the verge of a KO but Molina quit in the 5th round citing an injury.  The official result was TKO in the 5th for Dominguez.

Frank Galarza (8-0-1) got the tough fight that he expected from the very rugged and durable Roberto Lopez (4-4-2).  Galarza proved why he was a highly touted prospect by out hustling Lopez over 6 rounds.  The judges scored the bout 59-55 in favor of the winner Frank Galarza.

Bryan Cruz (1-0) made a successful pro debut against Jonathan Caban (0-4).  From the start of the fight Cruz seemed to be too much for Caban.  In the 3rd round Cruz hurt Caban badly with an uppercut only to follow up with a barrage of punches until the ref intervened at 1:20 of the 3rd round.

Heather Hardy (3-0) put on a great performance against Ivana Coleman (4-0) over 4 rounds.  Coleman had a slight power advantage but couldn't dent Hardy's chin.  Hardy used aggression & punch output to dominate the entire 4 rounds. All 3 judges scored the fight 40-36 in favor of Hardy

46 year old Rob Garris' pro debut did not have an Cinderella ending.  Abdellah Smith (2-4) was too much for the elder Garris.  Garris gave it his all but was stopped by a vicious right hand in the 2nd round.  Much respect to Rob Garris for having the heart to make his debut at 46 in order to raise money for charity.

The first fight of the evening was an absolute war between Nueky Santelises (2-0) & Mich Branch (1-3).  Branch showed a tremendous chin & heart but Santelises controlled the action from start to finish.  The judges scored the fight 39-37 x 2 & 40-36 in favor of Santelises
