Vincent Arroyo Nearly Stops Sanchez, Wins Decision

By Edward Chaykovsky

Grand Casino, Hinckley, Minnesota - Vincent Arroyo (12-1, 7KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over Hector Sanchez (19-2, 9KOs). The bout was fought at a catch-weight of 143-pounds. The scores were 98-92, 98-92 and 96-94. A close fight with scores that were a bit too wide.

Sanchez was boxing well from the distance and controlling the first four rounds. In the sixth, Arroyo's power began to come through as he cut off the ring and started landing hard hooks to stun Sanchez. In the eight round, Sanchez was badly hurt and he was hurt for most of the round but Arroyo was unable to finish him off. Sanchez shook it off and went to war with Arroyo in a close tenth round, where both boxers were stunned at various points.
