Promoter Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions has confirmed that there are ongoing negotiations for a fight between Hernan "Tyson" Marquez and WBO flyweight champion Brian Viloria. Beltran indicates the current negotiations have made it impossible to work out a fight with Marquez's WBA mandatory, interim-champion Juan Carlos Reveco of Argentina.
According to Beltran, "Tyson" Marquez (33-2, 27 KOs) vs. Viloria (31-3, 18 KOs) would take place in late September or early October in Mexico City or Los Angeles. Marquez will vacate the WBA title in order to challenge Viloria.
"We owe it to people, fans are asking for attractive fights and there is no time for negotiations with Reveco of Argentina, so he is going to give up the WBA belt to face Viloria on September 29 or October 6 at the new arena in Mexico City or at the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles. We have begun negotiations with Viloria's team, but before that Tyson must defeat Filipino boxer Lumacad on July 14 in Culiacan," Beltran said.
