Bell Centre, Montreal, Canada - There was some punishment in the ring and some fireworks after the fight. Sergey Kovalev (29-0-1, 26KOs) made it much easier the second time with a TKO in seven over ex-WBC beltholder Jean Pascal (30-4-1, 17KOs) to retain the WBO/WBA/IBF light heavyweight world titles. This was Pascal's first fight with new trainer Freddie Roach.

The boxers first met last March, with Kovalev winning the bout with an eight round stoppage. Pascal protested the stoppage, which eventually led to this rematch.

After the fight was over, Kovalev was doing a post-fight interview and called WBC champion Adonis Stevenson a chicken. He also started quacking, a reference that Stevenson was ducking him.

Stevenson was at ringside. He entered the ring, with his entourage, and confronted Kovalev during the live HBO broadcast. The two fighters were pulled apart before the situation got too out of hand.

The two fighters were negotiation the last few weeks for a potential summer showdown. As BoxingScene.com reported a few days ago, the fight fell apart over the TV rights. Kovalev is an HBO contracted fighter and Stevenson fights under the Premier Boxing Champions/Showtime umbrella.
