Victor Terrazas Faces Genaro Garcia, 4/14 on Canelo Bill

By Miguel Rivera

WBC silver super bantamweight champion Victor Terrazas (32-2-1, 18KOs) will defend his crown against Genaro Garcia (38-8, 22KOs) on April 14 in Mexico. The exact venue and location will be announced shortly. Televisa will broadcast the fight.

This is the same Genaro "Poblanito" Garcia who was scheduled to fight Filipino Rey Bautista on March 3rd in Bohol. There were worldwide headlines when a Mexican matchmaker sent over a fighter named Genaro Garcia, but it wasn't the experienced Genaro Garcia who faces Terrazas in April. Instead the matchmaker sent a journeyman with the same name, who has an official record of (10-11).

Terrazas is making his re-debut with Canelo Promotions. There are some issues. After Terrazas defeated Fernando Montiel last November, Zanfer Promotions claims that he signed an exclusive promotional agreement with their company. Sources in Mexico indicate that a legal battle will likely take place between Zanfer and Canelo.
