At the Arena Coliseo in Guadalajara, Mexico, Victor "Viking" Terrazas (29-2, 16KOs) won a close-pitched twelve round split decision over Nehomar Cermeno (20-3, 12KOs) in a WBA super bantamweight eliminator. The scores were 115-113 and 115-113 for Terrazas and 116-112 for Cermeno. The action was fought on a very even level but Terrazas appeared to land the punches with more meaning and the judges were likely influenced by that, and the loud hometown crowd.
In the co-headliner, Jean Piero Pérez picked up the WBA's interim-flyweight title with a twelve round unanimous decision over Jesús "Destroyer" Jiménez. The scores were 117-111, 117-111 and 118-110 for Perez. Jiménez falls to 31-7, with 22 KOs, and Perez improves to 18-3, 13 knockouts.
