By Victor Terrazas
The silver super bantamweight champion of the World Boxing Council (WBC), Mexico's Victor "Viking" Terrazas, began training for his next defense of the title. Terrazas (33-2-1, 19 KOs) is going to return on a date in August and there is still a chance the fight will take place outside of Mexico. Terrazas would like to secure a match with Abner Mares, the WBC's full champion at super bantam. Mares will possibly return to action on August 18th in Guadalajara.
"For two weeks I've been running every morning, hitting some machines in the gym. At the end of this month I will begin to spar and hope to secure the name of my next opponent," he said.
"Soon I will face Abner Mares, great fighter and great champion. And I'll beat him when it happens. I have enough experience to do it and sit on the WBC super bantamweight throne for a long time."
