WBC #1 light welterweight Victor Postol is still in search for his first career title shot in a very talent-filled pool of fighters. Tuning himself for the ultimate challenge, Postol (23-0, 10 KOs), who is also rated #13 by the WBO, will risk his WBC International title on October 3 at the SportLife fight club in Kiev, Ukraine. No opponent is yet named but some local sources indicate that Columbian veteran Ignacio Mendoza (38-7-2, 23 KOs), who is on a five-fight winning streak, could very well be the possibility. Mendoza has the first-round road TKO over undefeated Ukrainian Vladimir Kravets (26-0) in 2011.
Elite Boxing Promotions stages the event, which will also feature several other locally-based fighters. Featherweight Oleg Malinovskiy (9-0, 2 KOs) will be tested by the granite-chin Frenchman Philippe Frenois (16-7-1), who is still to score his first stoppage but who also hasnt been stopped as well. Undefeated talents Ilya Primak (5-0, 5 KOs) and Stanislav Skorokhod (5-0, 3 KOs) will take on Sutidze brothers from Georgia Beka (12-7-1, 5 KOs) and Ambrosi (8-4-4, 5 KOs) respectively. Finally, Russian banger Marat Kulumbegov (11-0-1, 7 KOs) can be next tested by Ukrainian fighter Ruslan Schelev (10-1, 6 KOs) in another intriguing match-up.Tags: Victor Postol
