Victor Ortiz-Shane Mosley in Play For August/September

By Mike Coppinger

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has advised BoxingScene.com that a welterweight fight between "Sugar" Shane Mosley and Victor Ortiz is being discussed for August or September.

"I think both guys have a lot to prove," Schaefer told BoxingScene.com. "I think it's an evenly matched fight -- half will pick Mosley, half Ortiz. Mosley really proved himself in Mexico against Pablo Cesar Cano, so I think it would be an intriguing fight."

Mosley (47-8-1, 39 KOs) came out of retirement in May, scoring his first win since 2009, a unanimous decision victory over Cano.

Ortiz (29-4-2, 22 KOs) hasn't fought since suffering a broken jaw in a stoppage loss to Josesito Lopez last summer. After recovering from surgery, Ortiz increased his profile with a stint on the reality television show "Dancing with the Stars."

two fighters that think offense first...hmmm I give the edge to the old man because he has something the young buck has shown to lack on multiple occasions, Will Power. This will be a good fight to bet...

War Mosley, although I fear Ortiz might pull a Nate Campbell-like performance again and run to a U.D which will make it difficult for Mosley.

Sigh. Shane wins this fight so easily- 5 years ago... So it goes.

Hope this fight happens & I hope it in LA. If so I will be there

Mosley is past it but Ortiz isn't great and is coming off a loss and an ijury caused layoff so it is fine with me and i think it has the potential to be a quality scrap Mosley and Ortiz…
