Vicente Mosquera-Francisco Contreras Set For January 24

By Jhonny Gonzalez

Junior welterweight Vicente "Loco" Mosquera (31-2-1, 17KOs) has scheduled his first fight of 2013, when he faces Francisco Contreras (18-3, 13KOs) on January 24th at the Hotel RIU in Panama City.

Mosquera, 33, has been very active after returning to the ring last year. After getting knocked out in the tenth round of his war with the late Edwin Valero in 2006, he spent the next few years dealing with a prison sentence in connection to a murder. He came back to the ring last year and picked up five victories. He grabbed two more this year with a decision over highly regarded prospect Walter Castillo and a TKO of veteran Daniel Attah.

Contreras has suffered TKO defeats to Pablo Cesar Cano and Sharif Bogere.
