VUYANI Bungi, the trainer of World Boxing Association featherweight champion Simpiwe Vetyeka, said he doesn’t doubt Vetyeka “even for a minute” and that the champion never complains even when you take him to a certain level of training.
Boxing writer Bongali Magasela quoted Bungi, who said “it is actually a pleasure to work with Vetyeka.”
The champ relinquished his International Boxing Organization belt to focus on the WBA featherweight division after winning the title from longtime champion Indonesia’s Chris John, who retired at the end of the sixth round in their title fight in Western Australia late last year.
Vetyeka whose moniker is “V12” has predicted a clean knockout win against Donaire, pointing out that he has been working on improving his advantages—hand speed, size and boxing ability.
Team Vetyeka will leave for Hong Kong on May 20 before proceeding to Macau on the 26th, while Team Donaire leaves Manila for Macau on May 24. The fight takes place on May 31.
“Donaire has been in big fights, but that does not mean he is unbeatable. Vetyeka is in his own league. I can simply say that our preparations have been going well. We have big plans that will be revealed on the night of the fight,” said the trainer.
