The lightweight world champion of the International Boxing Federation (IBF), Mexico's Miguel Vazquez, jumped on a plane this past Friday to travel to Macau for the upcoming defense of his title against unbeaten Russian Denis Shafikov on the 22nd of February at the Cotai Arena at the Venetian Resort in Macau. Vazquez (33-3, 13 KOs), with the help of his trainer Javier Capetillo, feels very confident as the fight with Shafikov (33-0-1, 18 KOs) nears.

"I am aware that I am going to a strange land, where I probably will not be the favorite, but I'm used to it since I have almost always fought against all odds and I know this time will be no exception. But we are going with a positive mindset to win," said Vazquez.

Vazquez is probably the closes thing to a prime Sweet Pea in this era and it's truly amazing watching him do what he does best. It's like watching a live chemistry experiment go down right in front of you when he slips, dips, and counters.
Who the hell happened to hype Gesta to beat Vasquez?
I dunno if the hype was that Gesta was going to beat Vazquez, but the TR hype behind Gesta was that he was the next hard hitting left handed Filipino. Obviously he wasn't to be the next Manny Pacquaio, but still a mark...

Vazquez will run run run, and nobody can run fast enough to catch him. Such a frustrating style to watch.
Will this fight be televised??If so what network??
It will be televised on HBO2. It's in China, so I imagine it will be live sometime in the morning in the USA. I could be wrong.
