Vazquez Jr. Wants Immediate Rematch With Jorge Arce

By Jhonny Gonzalez

Former champion Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. wants an immediate rematch to avenge the only loss of his career. On Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Vazquez was stopped in the twelfth round by Mexican veteran Jorge Arce. Vazquez's co-promoter Felix "Tutico" Zabala says his boxer is not willing to take the fight anywhere, even in Mexico. He said Vazquez had vision problems after some kind of gel, possibly from Arce's hair, got in his eye.

"After the fight, Wilfredo said he wanted to fight soon. We can make an interim-fight, although hopefully we'll get the rematch with Arce, but it won't be easy because he already won once. Arce knows it would be a tough fight for him and he may not want to fight Wilfredo again so quickly, but this is a business and we can talk to Bob Arum (Top Rank CEO) to get us a rematch and we'll do it in Mexico," said Zabala to Carlos Gonzalez.
