| Vazquez Jr. Prefers Arce Rematch, Not Oquendo Bout

By Jhonny Gonzalez Wlifredo Vazquez Jr. prefers to land a direct rematch with WBO super bantamweight champion Jorge Arce, and not a possible WBO eliminator with fellow Puerto Rican Jonathan "Polvo" Oquendo in October. Vazquez's co-promoter, Tutico Zabala, has been in talks with Puerto Rico Best Boxing to stage the eliminator with Oquendo, but he's also trying to get his fighter back in the ring with Arce. Back in May, Arce stopped Vazquez in the twelfth round to capture the WBO title. "We have been in negotiations for some time to get the rematch. That's what we are looking for, although the fight with Oquendo is possible. We are looking for a date and a location for a rematch and we still hope to do it this year," Zabala told Carlos Gonzalez. MDPORTO - the only idiot would be the one who didn't have a rematch clause in the contract! And I bet I can guess why WW2 didn't have one. He was as cocky as his fans in thinking he would blow over Arce easily. ANYONE with the sense that God gave a Frog would know it is about business and if WW2... |

The hate is incredible. Some of you idiots act like arce destroyed WV2. The fight was so damn close that had the 12 rd ended it would of been difficult to score. Plus WV2 scared a kd..WV2 gave arce a chance why cant he do the same? Let me guess because he is PR? I know that deep down tha... |

Arce taxed his ass why should he give him a rematch he should fight a tune up build up his name again then maybe arce will give him his rematch and he can get muffed in the face again lol |

why should Arce have to beat him twice in order to move on? -- why should Vazquez be in a position to 'prefer' a rematch -- he got his butt handed to him -- Arce should move on to bigger and better things -- Vazquez needs to rebuilt his credibility as a top tier guy |

I think the eliminator is a good idea immediate rematches imo dont deserve to be given right away especially when you KOed the guy. If it was a close fight then I understand but the the win was established quite clearly. Arce should make a defense Vazquez should fight Oquendo and then fight each ... |
