IBF lightweight champion Miguel Vazquez (33-3, 13KOs) has a single Christmas wish - to fight WBC champion Adrien Broner (25-0, 21KOs) on February 16th at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Golden Boy Promotions is trying to get Broner in the ring with WBO champion Ricky Burns. There are problems in the negotiations, with the Scottish fighter requesting a lot of money to make the match happen in the United States.

"I have been reading about various fights that they are trying to make for Broner that I believe will not happen, like WBO champion Ricky Burns. I am here and ready to fight on February 16 on HBO versus Broner. After my convincing win over Mercito Gesta on December 8 on the Pacquiao versus Marquez card - I believe Broner saw my fight and wants no part of fighting me," Vazquez said.

"I am not a punching bag like Antonio DeMarco. I am a Mexican master boxer like Pernell Whitaker. Broner's promoter know how to reach my promoter Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions. So right now I am the number one lightweight in the world."

"Golden Boy can stop wasting time looking for an opponent for Broner on February 16. I am ready to fight and they can start to promote [our fight] instead of wasting their time talking to other promoters for other fighters who are afraid to face Broner or overprice themselves. I am Broner's Christmas gift under the tree, so please open me up and you can have the number one lightweight in the world as your next opponent."
