Vargas, Omotoso, Penalosa on Pacquiao vs. Marquez Card

By Rick Reeno

The entire undercard for Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez is coming together. The HBO pay-per-view event takes place on December 8th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

In the pay-per view main event, Pacquiao (54-4-2, 38 KOs) and Marquez (54-6-1, 39 KOs) will trade punches for a fourth time.

On the pay-per-view portion of the card:

Olympic gold medal winner Yuriorkis Gamboa (21-0, 16 KOs) will return for the first time since last September's decision win over Daniel Ponce De Leon, and he will likely face super featherweight contender Miguel Beltran Jr. (27-2, 17 KOs) of Mexico.

IBF lightweight champion Miguel Vazquez (32-3, 13 KOs) defends his belt against undefeated Mercito Gesta (26-0-1, 14 KOs)

In a fight for the WBA-interim featherweight championship, Javier Fortuna (20-0, 15 KOs) collides with Patrick Hyland (27-0, 12 KOs).

On the non-pay-per-view portion of the card:

Undefeated welterweight contender Jessie Vargas (20-0, 9KOs) will be in action.

Welterweight up and comer Wale "Lucky Boy" Omotoso (23-0, 19KOs) will face Irving Garcia (17-8-3, 8KOs).

And super bantamweight prospect Dodie Boy Penalosa Jr. (9-0, 9KOs) will be in action. Penalosa is the son of former champion Dodie Boy Penalosa and the nephew of former beltholder Gerry Penalosa.

I wonder if Jessie Vargas is still thinking that moving to Top Rank was a good idea. Under Mayweather he fought infrequently, but he was on the televised undercard of a major fight with great exposure and making good money(assuming).…
