When WBA "regular" junior welterweight champion Jessie Vargas steps in the ring on November 22nd against Antonio DeMarco in Macau, China, it will be the third left handed fighter he has faced in a row. His two previous fights were victories over Khabib Allakhverdiev and Anton Novikov.
Most orthodox fighters prefer to fight other orthodox fighters but Vargas said that he just wants the biggest fights possible.
"Most fighters avoid lefties and I'm on my third one in a row. I have shown that I will fight anyone," insists Vargas.
The fight takes place underneath the Manny Pacquiao-Chris Algieri HBO distributed pay-per-view event. Vargas hopes that a win over DeMarco lands a fight against a 4th lefty in row, Pacquiao himself.
"If this can lead me to a fight against Pacquiao that would be great. What I am looking for is a big name to get the respect that I deserve," Vargas told BoxingScene.com.
