Junior middleweight contender Vanes Martirosyan (30-0, 19KOs) believes the WBC should strip Saul "Canelo" Alvarez of his 154-pound title for continuing to fight boxers who campaign outside of his division. The WBC recently ordered a final eliminator between Vanes and hard-punching Alfredo Angulo. Vanes would like to have the WBC take the title from Alvarez, and then sanction the fight with Angulo for the vacant belt.

"I think it should be me and Angulo for the title. Alvarez is too busy fighting 140 and 147-pounders. They should just give him a title at 140 or 147. Either of us, me or Angulo, would beat Canelo by knockout. I like the fight [with Angulo]. I've wanted the fight for a year now, so we'll see what happens," Vanes told BoxingScene.com.

Alvarez will defend his title against Alfonso Gomez on September 17 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
