Vanes Martirosyan Bout Off After Davis Fails Medical

By Osman Rodriguez

Junior middleweight contender Vanes Martirosyan (32-0, 20KOs) will not be facing Ryan Davis (24-9-3, 9KOs) on Saturday night at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. According to the California State Athletic Commission, Davis failed his pre-fight medical exam. Vanes was part of the non-televised undercard to the HBO doubleheader featuring Nonito Donaire in a super bantamweight unification against Jeffrey Mathebula, and Kelly Pavlik appears in the co-feature against Will Rosinsky at super middleweight.

Vanes' fight was originally scheduled for June 16th in El Paso as part of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Andy Lee undercard. He last fought in February.

The WBC recently ordered Vanes and Erislandy Lara to face each other in a final eliminator, with the winner getting a mandatory shot at the 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez of Mexico.
I agree, bob paid this guy off. What I wanna know is why. It's another W on the resume after weeks of training. It makes no sense.
easy win for Vanes anyhow

Damn, i can win $20 if Vanes pulls out of the Lara fight, but i really wanted to see that fight happen. It appears that Martirosyan is not at fault here and i just hope this was not a sham…

Big people want to keep him rusty just in case Lara REALLY has to fight him.
