Vanes Martirosyan Added To The Al Haymon Stable

By Edward Chaykovsky

Powerful boxing adviser Al Haymon had a busy Saturday and a busy 2014. He continues to beef up his always expanding stable of fighters. already reported that Haymon signed up IBF lightweight champion Miguel Vazquez (34-3, 13KOs). He didn't stop there. He also signed up junior middleweight contender Vanes Martirosyan (34-1-1, 21 KOs).

Vanes, a 2004 Olympian for the United States, suffered his first career defeat last November to Demetrius Andrade, who went down in the first round but boxed the rest of the way to a decision win. After the loss Vanes was released by longtime promoter Top Rank and signed a promotional deal with Dan Goossen. He also hired Dan's brother, Joe Goossen, as his new trainer.

Haymon also handles Floyd Mayweather Jr., Danny Garcia, Robert Guerrero, Marcos Maidana, Amir Khan, Lucas Matthysse, Shawn Porter, Adonis Stevenson, Keith Thurman, Omar Figueroa, Peter Quillin, Deontay Wilder, and many, many others.
