An angry Vanes Martirosyan (28-0, 17KOs) reached out to BoxingScene.com to call "bullsh*t" on the WBC's sanction of Saul Alvarez-Matthew Hatton. On Wednesday the WBC announced that Alvarez-Hatton was being sanctioned as a fight for the vacant junior middleweight title. Their decision raised a lot of eyebrows because Hatton, a welterweight, is not even ranked under the WBC at 154-pounds.

To justify their decision, the WBC claimed that at least five or six junior middleweight contenders in the top ten were unavailable. Vanes, ranked at six, was never contracted by the WBC. He would have accepted the fight with Alvarez, which is set for March 5 at the Honda Center in California.

"I read on BoxingScene that the top five or six guys in the junior middleweight division are unavailable so the WBC is having Canelo fight Matthew Hatton for the title. That is news to me. I was never contacted," Vanes told BoxingScene.com.

"I would fight Canelo in a heartbeat.  A fight between him and I at the Honda Center would be huge. There are a lot of Mexicans and Armenians in the area so I know it would be huge. I want to set the record straight.  I never turned out a shot at the WBC title. It has been a dream of mine since I was a little kid to hold the green belt."
