The proposed lightweight tournament that is being put together by Golden Boy Promotions on April 4, appears to be tentatively heading to the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas. The main event will feature KO king Edwin Valero against Antonio Pitalua for the interim-WBC lightweight title.
The slated undercard bouts will feature Michael Katsidis against Jesus Chavez, Jorge Barrios vs. Carlos Hernandez and the final remaining about appears to be a clash of former champions with Joel Casamayor facing Julio Diaz.
Valero views the fight as the most important of his career. The even will be distributed by HBO pay-per-view.
"For me, it is very important to fight again in the United States. I'm going to put on a great performance. The fans will see me come out with my hands raised high and become the new lightweight champion of the WBC. I don't know what's going to happen later on, that depends on my promoter Bob Arum and my manager," Valero said to ESTO.
