| Update on The Situation at HBO Sports
|
|
As I noted in an earlier statement, this week I was advised by two people who I consider to be reliable and knowledgeable that Ross Levinsohn would succeed Ross Greenburg as President of HBO Sports. On Friday morning, I communicated that information to Rick Reeno, who posted it on this website. Thereafter, I learned that Yahoo (Mr. Levinsohn's current employer) had issued a statement in his name and that other people with knowledge of the situation had told third parties that the information that I shared with BoxingScene.com is incorrect. I have since gone online and read other statements from people who were told by Mr. Levinsohn that he is not leaving Yahoo. Denials from people within HBO have also been communicated to me. I will accept these denials at face value and apologize to anyone (particularly Mr. Levinsohn) who might have been put in an embarrassing situation because of my comments. -- Thomas Hauser Tags: HBO , Ross Greenburg , Ross Levinsohn |
HBO Sports is losing money left and right cuz they sided with Golden Girls Promotons instead of the top dog Top Rank.
Numbers don't lie when GBP last ppv did less than 50k and Pac-Mosley will do 1 mill+ easy.

To be 100% honest while I think that would suck in the short term, for the long term health of the sport it would be a huge boost.
I could see purses declining, promoters actually having to promote, and due to the decrease in costs big fights could return to national TV.
