Negotiations have concluded between the managers for the super flyweight champion of the World Boxing Association, Kohei Kono, and interim division king Liborio Solis - and the boxers will collide on May 6 in the battle to define the absolute WBA champion at 115 pounds. Wuatanabe Promotions announced the details of the agreement, and also said that the fight will take place at Ota Ward Gym in Tokyo.
Kono won the title on December 31 in a fight against Tepparith Kokietgym, who snatched the belt with a knockout in the fourth round. Meanwhile, Solis became mandatory on December 10, 2011, when he won a split decision over Jose Salgado.
Kono has a record of 28 wins with 11 knockouts and 7 defeats, while Solis has 13 wins and three defeats, one draw and seven wins bu knockout.
On the same card, there will be the confrontation between WBA champion at 130 pounds, Takashi Uchiyama, and Venezuelan Jaider Parra, located tenth in the rankings.
Uchiyama, with a record of 19-0, won the title in November of 2010, and his last was on December 31 against interim-beltholder Bryan "Tiquito" Vasquez, which the champion won in eight rounds. Parra is unbeaten with 20 wins.
