Peter Fury, uncle and trainer of former unified heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs), says the boxer is eager to get back in the ring.
28-year-old Tyson has been out of action since shocking Wladimir Klitschko with a twelve round unanimous decision to win the WBO, IBF, IBO, WBA titles in Germany.
Shortly after that contest, Tyson was stripped of the IBF title over his inability to make a mandatory defense against Czar Glazkov. Months later, Glazkov was stopped by Charles Martin in a battle for the vacant title. And then Martin was knocked out in his first defense at the hands of Anthony Joshua.
There were two scheduled dates for a rematch with Klitschko, which were canceled when Tyson withdrew.
The second time, Tyson explained that his mental health was not in order and he was medically advised to withdraw from the Klitschko bout.
He vacated his three remaining world titles and later lost his license, after admitting to the British Boxing Board of Control that he abused alcohol and recreational drugs.
The big problem right now with regaining his license, is waiting for the outcome of a hearing with British anti-doping organization UKAD, who claim the boxer tested positive for a banned substance in early 2015. As a result, Tyson remains suspended.
Tyson is currently training and dropping a lot of excess weight that he gained during his stint of inactivity.
"We are hoping that he [Tyson] will be back soon, our legal teams are dealing with it and we are just waiting on them to give us a green light. He is in a good place at the moment, back in the gym and shedding weight," Peter Fury told Sky Sports.
"I think people only realise how much he did bring to the game, both inside and out of the ring, now that he's not there anymore. He's fabulous for the sport and he will be back."
