World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18KOs) has decided to take legal action against the UKAD, according to reports in The Star and The Sun. Fury’s lawyers have lodged legal papers with the High Court demanding that the anti-doping authority explain why he was charged with a doping violation.

UKAD alleged that Fury tested for traces of Nandrolone in February of last year, but the issue was not flagged until June 24 of this year. Team Fury have stated that the second test came back clean and there was no threat of a charge or possible sanction. They also claim that a blood test came back negative, too, further strengthening Fury’s protests.

The document also points out that the 27-year-old was tested in the build-up to his heavyweight world title fight against former Champion Wladimir Klitschko and the results were also negative. According to today’s articles: ‘Team Fury claim they were told by UKAD that the contamination of a dietary supplement was the most likely explanation of the positive result’.

In the midst of all this, the heavyweight Champion has been preparing for his October 29 rematch with Klitschko, which is due to take place at the Manchester Arena, England and will be shown live on BoxNation here in the U.K. They were scheduled to meet in July, but that date was nixed due to an ankle injury sustained by the Morecambe-based boxer.
