Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) was in attendance at London's Copper Box Arena to support Billy Joe Saunders tonight and the former world heavyweight Champion believes that the WBO middleweight holder can produce a prime performance to beat American challenger Willie Monroe Jr. "He is in fantastic shape, the best shape of his life, I'd say, and has the enthusiasm back," he said when speaking to John Rawling of BT Sport.
"He has got the spark back, changing camps has really helped him. It gets a bit monotonous and can help if you get exciting new things to try. I don't know much about Monroe, he put up a good fight against Golovkin, landed some good punches himself and is a good opponent. It won't be an easy task for Billy Joe, but he is in shape and mentally focused as well."
As for his own career, Fury has a UKAD charge looming on his horizon and will hope to clear that issue up before applying for the right to fight against under the auspices of the BBBoC.
The undefeated linear Champion has battled depression since beating Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015 and has watched from the sidelines as British rival Anthony Joshua hoovered up the IBF World, WBA Super World and IBO titles in his absence.
Fury, though, believes that he is still a viable opponent for the undefeated Londoner provided he clears his name and returns to the ring.
"I've got to get some more weight off, I've lost nearly two stones in two weeks," he revealed.
"I've turned my life around and feel a lot better than I did before. I'm enjoying the gym work, and that's how it supposed to be, so I'm on the right path. They call me 'The Boomerang', I always come back. It is a fight I can win with my boxing skills."
