IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18KOs) is hoping he runs into Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34KOs), the WBC champion, on Saturday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Fury stunned boxing by winning a twelve round unanimous decision over Wladimir Klitschko last November. Wilder will defend his title later tonight against Artur Szpilka.
Fury vs. Wilder is quickly becoming one of the biggest fights in boxing.
Before that bout can happen, Fury is contracted to face Klitschko for a second time later this year.
Fury took a shot at Wilder, claiming the unbeaten boxer is ducking his mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin. If Wilder wins with Szpilka, he is mandated by the WBC to face Povetkin next.
"I'm looking forward to the Wilder fight and the Glazkov fight on Saturday and I will be attending," Fury said to the Manchester Evening News. "I will bump into Wilder on Saturday when he fights this guy nobody has heard of. Wilder has been avoiding his mandatory Alexander Povetkin for two fights now.
"Povetkin is only a backhander as well. Look what Klitschko did to him. He punched him up and every time he landed on him he went down, so Povetkin is another that I would give a hiding to. The guys who are fighting for my belt, Glazkov and Martin, nobody has heard of them. The IBF took the belt from the lineal heavyweight and gave it to two no hopers, so we will see how that plans out."
