Troy Corbin-Francisco Rios Gil Tops Card in Pomona

By Francisco Salazar

Those who promote a boxing card on any given night could tell you about the stress and headaches that are associated with the sport.

How about those who promote two shows on back to back nights? You could ask Craig Zimmerman on Monday.

MEZ Sports will present back to back shows, starting on Friday night at Finish Line Sports Grill in Pomona, CA.

Friday’s show will feature both boxing and mixed martial arts on the “Pandemonium 9” card.

Headlining the boxing portion of the card will be unbeaten junior middleweight Troy Corbin (7-0, 6 KOs) taking on Francisco Rios Gil (18-18, 12 KOs) in a scheduled six round bout.

Antonio Moya (0-2) will fight in his hometown as he takes on Greg Baca (0-3) in a scheduled four round junior middleweight bout. Junior middleweight Julian Cruz (0-2) will fight Carl Hill (1-6, 1 KO) in a scheduled four round bout.

Six MMA bouts will round out the card.

On Saturday’s card, six boxing bouts and one MMA bout will take place on the “Pandemonium 9.5” card.

In the main event, Hector Serrano will fight Luis Alfredo Lugo in a scheduled six round bout. Serrano (16-3, 6 KOs) has won his last three bouts in a row after losing three bouts in a row. Lugo (13-18-1, 5 KOs) was knocked out in the first round by Terrell Williams in the first round.

Other six round bouts include middleweight Danny Garcia (5-3-1) taking on unbeaten Tony Johnson (5-0) and Heather Clark (1-0) fighting Maia Kahaunaele. In what could be the fight of the night is Luis Hernandez (2-2, 1 KO) of San Bernardino fighting Highland Park’s Osman Rivera (2-5, 1 KO).

Rounding out the card are two four round bouts. Santos Vazquez will fight Carlos Medina and Jonathan Hyde faces Alejandro Garlarza.

Tickets are priced the same for both nights and could be purchased at pandemoniumfightclub.com or by calling (714) 933-4519. Tickets are valued at $100 for ringside, $75 for VIP, $65, and $50.

For both nights, doors open at 6:30PM, with first bell is scheduled for 7:30PM.

The Finish Line Sports Grill is located at 2201 N. White Avenue in Pomona, north of Interstate 10.
