Recently Boxingscene.com had the chance to sit down with Travis Kauffman about his upcoming fight with Jason Barnett (14-14) this Saturday night at the Santander Arena in Reading, PA.  This event will also be broadcasting LIVE WORLDWIDE on GFL.tv.

Kauffman was originally slated to face Manuel Quezada but Quezada did not submit for his blood work on time.  After the realization that Quezada was not going to happen promoter Marshall Kauffman was hell bent on finding another opponent.  After many of his choices turned down the fight, things were looking bad until Jason Barnett accepted the challenge.

With a new challenge in front of his, we discussed several topics with Kauffman.  Including his training camp, potential fight with Joe Hanks, Tor Hamer and much more.  This is what he had to say:

Boxingscene.com:  Hey Travis, how did your training camp go for this fight?

Travis Kauffman:  Training camp has been great.  I'm in really good shape.

Boxingscene.com:  What do you think about your new opponent Jason Barnett?

Travis Kauffman:  Well I was preparing but the change isn't going to hurt because with my experience I can handle whoever they put in front of me.

Boxingscene.com:  Do you think Quezada did not submit the proper paperwork on time because he didn't want to fight or was he just being lazy?

Travis Kauffman:  I'm not sure.  Maybe he knew he was going to get beat and wanted less of a fight.  He signed the contract 2 months ago so why didn't he submit his paperwork?  I am not sure.  I don't think he was scared.  He probably just didn't want to fight.

Boxingscene.com:  Where does a win over Barnett put you heading in to 2014 in the landscape of the heavyweight division?

Travis Kauffman:  Well first thing is first and that is to take care of business on Saturday but we are in talks about fighting either January 10th or 17th against Joe Hanks.

Boxingscene.com:  What are your thoughts about the way fellow heavyweight Tor Hamer retired on his stool against Andy Ruiz this past Saturday in China?

Travis Kauffman:  I am not surprised.  Tor has quit in him and he showed before against Glazkov.  I think you should not be boxing if you are going to quit like a b*tch.

Boxingscene.com:  You mentioned you sparred with Jennings before.  Who did you work with to prepare for this fight?

Travis Kauffman:  Tomasz Adamek, Bryant Jennings, and local prospect Patrick Farrell.

Boxingscene.com Before I let you go, what can fans watching LIVE at the Santander Arena in Reading or watching the LIVE broadcast on GFL.tv around the WORLD expect from you on Saturday night?

Travis Kauffman:  Excitement!  Also a fighter that is thinking a lot more than he did in the past.

If you are in the Reading area tickets can be purchased through ticketmaster.com or by calling 610-587-5950.  Tickets are priced at $35, $50, $75 & $100.
