A lot has been made of the term "Mexican Style" in the build up to this weekend's Canelo Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin HBO pay-per-view showdown.
Golovkin's trainer Abel Sanchez has said that his fighter, who holds the WBC/WBA/IBF/IBO middleweight titles, fights with a Mexican style and both Team Golovkin and Team Canelo have been bombarded with questions about the style and meaning behind it this weekend.
During a trainer's roundtable with the media on Thursday, Canelo's trainer Eddy Reynoso stated that while his fighter has Mexican blood, his style is a combination of several fighters with different ethnic backgrounds.
"The most important thing we do is watch the great fighters with good defenses. Fighters like (Jose) Napoles, (Willie) Pep, (Ray) Robinson and (Ruben) Olivares. We like to watch great technical fighters. That's why Canelo doesn't just come forward looking for the fight. He moves his head. He feints. He bends his waist. He has taken pieces from other fighters," said Eddy Reynoso.
Canelo-GGG takes place at the T-Mobile Arena on the Las Vegas strip. The Pay-per-view begins at 8pm eastern and is distributed by HBO.
