Former two division world champion Tomasz Adamek (48-2, 29 KOs) denied rumors that he plans to fight up and coming Polish prospect Artur Szpilka (13-0, 10KOs) in the next few weeks. Golota recently passed up the opportunity to face Kubrat Pulev in an IBF final heavyweight eliminator. Golota stated that he passed on Pulev because there were far more lucrative opportunities on the table to fight in Poland and rumors quickly started that Szpilka was the frontrunner opponent.
"Soon we will be informed of who and where I'm going to fight. There is a chance for a good fight in Poland. No [I am not fighting Szpilak]... am I supposed to beat up on kids? I'm telling you that I want to fight for the world championship, I feel up to it, so the opponent must be [someone highly ranked and regarded]. In April, I would want to fight someone like a Jonathon Banks or a Chris Arreola fight, a fight that interests HBO," Adamek said.
