Quintana's Sergio "Yeyo" Thompson has a very tough battle in store when he faces experienced Venezuelan Jorge Linares in a WBC lightweight eliminator on the 31st of March in Cancun. Promoter Pepe Gomez will stage the show in a partnership with Golden Boy Promotions.

Thompson (25-2, 23 KOs) watched the last fight involving Linares (31-2, 20 KOs), where the Venezuelan star was stopped in eleven rounds by Antonio DeMarco. In that loss, Linares suffered several bad cuts which left his face in a bloody mask.

While Linares is trained by the legendary Freddie Roach, Thompson has promised a night of pain and punbishment.

"I'll be in great shape and like a true Mexican warrior I'm willing to die [in the ring]. Not only will I punish Jorge's eyebrows, but I will also throw a lot of my hooks to the liver. I don't want to disappoint my family and everyone who believes in me. Linares is dangerous because of his boxing ability, but I will always be on top of him and I'll stay on the inside. I will show that I can be king of the world," Thompson said.
