A turn of events has forced Golden Gloves promotions to include Thomas “Tommy Gun” Oosthuizen in their year opening Power at the Palace bill on March 3.

IBO super middleweight champion Thomas Oosthuizen stopped Francisco Sierra in the eleventh round to retain his title at Emperors Palace in Kempton Park, South Africa. The fight was called with one second to go in the round, which created a frenzy by Sierra and his team. Sierra, who took punishment in the fight, was clipped by a heavy left when the referee stepped in to call it. Oosthuizen, at the time of the stoppage, had won nearly every round of the fight.

THOMAS "Tommy Gun" Oosthuizen says he is raring to go as he prepares to climb in the ring for his International Boxing Organisation (IBO) supermiddleweight title defence against Mexican Francisco Sierra at Emperors Palace on Wednesday.

The management of South African super middleweight prospect Thomas Oosthuizen is accusing fighters of running scared of the unbeaten southpaw following his impressive victory over Aaron Pryor Jnr in US last month.

Biloxi, MS [Beau Rivage Resort & Casino] - Former champion Andre Berto (28-1, 21 KOs) flew out of the gate and overwhelmed IBF welterweight champion Jan Zaveck (31-2, 18 KOs), shutting his eye and forcing the ringside doctor to halt the bout in the fifth round. Berto returns for the first time since the loss to Victor Ortiz, and picks up the IBF title. Photos by Scott Foster.

Beau Rivage Resort & Casino, Biloxi, Mississippi - In a bout for the IBO super middleweight title, Tomasz Oosthuiszen (16-0-1, 11KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over Aaron Pryor Jr. (16-4, 11KOs). Oosthuiszen got off to a very good start, before Pryor began to come on late. Both boxers were visibly tired in the late rounds. The right eye of Oosthuiszen was cut and badly swollen. All three judges had it 117-111 for Oosthuiszen.

The spotlight might be on the Andre Berto’s IBF welterweight title challenge to Slovenian Jan Zaveck at Beau Rivage Resort and Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi, US on Saturday but South African Thomas Oosthuizen is determined to steal the show when he takes on Aaron Pryor Jnr on the HBO televised co feature.

Aaron Pryor Jr., son of International Hall of Famer Aaron "The Hawk" Pryor, will be following in his fathers footsteps when he fights for the IBO super middleweight world title. Pryor Jr (16-3, 11 KO's) will go against Thomas Oosthuizen (15-0, 11 KO's) on the September 3, 2011 undercard of Berto vs Zaveck in Biloxi Mississippi and to be featured on HBO's World Championship Boxing.

The name Aaron Pryor still sends shivers down Harold Volbrecht’s spine even though the American has long retired from the boxing ring and Volbrecht has since established himself as one of the top South African trainers after his own checkered career which included two world title challenges.

Sources have advised BoxingScene.com that South African super middleweight prospect Thomas Oosthuizen will make his American debut on Sept. 3 on the undercard of Andre Berto-Jan Zaveck from Biloxi, Miss., likely against Aaron Pryor Jr. Oosthuizen (15-0-1, 11 KOs) is a highly-regarded prospect, a rangy southpaw at 6'4" with good pop. His likely opponent Pryor Jr. (16-3, 11 KOs) would represent by far the sternest test of his career, coming off a big win against Librado Andrade in May.
