Earlier this week welterweight contender Thomas Dulorme's social media accounts exploded with comments from fans about a potential account against former four-division champion Miguel Cotto. Rumors spread throughout the social media networks that an all Puerto Rican showdown was being negotiated.

Cotto was originally scheduled to return to the ring on February 25th against James Kirkland bury the fight was canceled when Kirkland reportedly broke his nose in sparring.

He has since resumed talks to face Mexican legend Juan Manuel Marquez but so far an agreement on what weight the bout would be contested at hasn't been reached and Marquez would also like a tune up fight before facing Cotto.

The Puerto Rican star has been out of the ring since losing an unanimous decision to Canelo Alvarez in November, 2015.

Dulorme (24-2), who grew up in Carolina, Puerto Rico, recently signed with Mayweather Promotions and notched a knockout victory last month against Brian Jones on the Badou Jack-James DeGale undercard. He has won two fights in a row since losing to WBC/WBO super lightweight champion Terence Crawford.

While acknowledging that negotiations haven't taken place, Dulorme who has campaigned at 140 and 147 pounds, is very interested in the fight.

"I think it would be a great fight for the fans. I am ready. We can fight at 149 or 150 pounds or negotiate some other catchweight. The fans have been asking me about this fight nonstop and making fight posters about the fight. I think it would be a great fight for the fans. Cotto is a great fighter and I am hungry to fight someone like him. It would be a great Puerto Rican battle," Dulorme told BoxingScene.com.
