The Philippines Rodel Tejares has suffered a 3rd round TKO at the hands of former WBA world flyweight champion Denkaosan Kaovichit in a clash for the Pan Asian Boxing Association title in a fight card presented by Galaxy Promotions at Ayutthaya Park in Thailand.
A glance at the fighters records confirm a mismatch since Tejares had lost four of his last five fights and ended up with a record of 20-24-4 with 5 knockouts while Kaovichit improved his outstanding record to 58-3-1 with 24 knockouts.
The 28 year old Filipino who was ranked No. 14 by PABA was coming of a ten round split decision win over Lionel Mark Duran at the Cavite Coliseum in Bacoor last September 24 following four straight defeats including a twelve round unanimous decision loss in a battle for the Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation vacant minimum weight title against Merlito Sabillo on October 8, 2011.
The 36 year old Kaovichit won by a twelve round unanimous decision over Rodel Quilaton in a title defense last July 24 which capped a run of eight straight victories since losing to Luis Concepcion of Panama by a 1st round TKO in a bout for the WBA flyweight interim title on October 2, 2010.
Concepcion subsequently lost his title to reigning WBA champion Hernan Tyson Marquez who takes on WBO champion Brian Viloria at the Sports Arena in Los Angeles on Saturday, in an eagerly awaited unification title fight.
