A few weeks ago, the World Boxing Council ordered Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Marco Antonio Rubio to fight each other for the WBC interim-middleweight title, where the winner would get a shot at champion Sergio Martinez.
Rubio's promoter Reginaldo Kόchle, the director of Promociones del Pueblo, is now convinced Chavez will never return to the middleweight division - after Chavez failed to make 168-pounds for last Saturday fight with Bryan Vera. Chavez fought Vera at a catch-weight of 173-pounds, which the boxers agreed upon only three days before the match.
"We believe that this fight (against Chavez) is virtually ruled out by the way things went. Based on what we saw at the weigh-in, it is almost 99.9 percent that this fight has been forgotten about. We hope to communicate this week [with the WBC] to see if we can go against Domenico Spada or Gilberto Ramirez for the title," said Kόchle.Tags: Julio Cesar Chavez Jr , Marco Antonio Rubio
