Team Rigondeaux Eye The Donaire vs. Vazquez Winner

By Reynaldo Sanchez

Cuban star Guillermo “The Jackal” Rigondeaux finished 2011 by training strong. Last Friday, Rigondeaux sparred for twelve rounds with three different opponents - Hevinson Herrera, John Wapash and Mauricio Pastrana - four rounds each. The current interim world champion Rigondeaux, will face the full world champion Rico“Suavecito” Ramos in a twelve round fight at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. It will be transmitted by Showtime.

Trainer Ismael Salas said - "On Monday January 2nd we are going to continue training. The last few weeks have been important, but we can’t overlook the plans we have and want to enter [the fight] with the best condition possible to defeat Rico Ramos on January 20th."

Boris Arenciabia, Rigondeaux's manager, said “we’re confident that we will defeat Ramos and after that one, we will look for the winner of [Wilfredo] Vazquez vs. [Nonito] Donaire. After Rigondeaux dominates Ramos, we will be hoping for the fights that everyone wants to see. On our list - the best fighters at 122 pounds.”

Rigondeaux sure is boring but probably the most taleted guy between 122-130. That being said I still think Donaire outworks him. He has the reach/size, the speed/quickness, the power to intimidate/hurt him and definitely has the skill. I dont think…
